Your workshop will include:
DRAWING
Learn my famous ‘blob technique’ where we put colour down first and keep everything small - it makes sketching much easier. Using fine liners you’ll draw-along with me to create eye-popping people like ‘The Bossy,' ‘The Bored’, and 'The Energetic’.
This simple exercise will inspire you to whip out a sketchbook and pen every time you're on the train, at the hairdressers or in a waiting room, from now on. Just ditch the phone, take out a pen and start scribbling. There are billions of people out there - and they're eminently sketchable!
WATERCOLOUR PAINTING
Now you’re warmed up, it's time for the showstopper!
Deceptively simple to do when I show you how: Together we’ll each paint the spectacular sight of the sun setting behind the Berkshire Downs (just to the left of the Bracknell). Use my easy-to-follow instructions via the projector - or go rogue with your own version using any colours that take your fancy.
THE SQUARED UP LEGACY PIECE
With two activities under your belt, this one’ll be a doddle!
Put your painting and drawing skills to good use in the creation of this collaborative masterpiece. With pre-prepped sections and visual guides to help you, you’ll each draw yourself on one shared canvas. And the beauty of artistic licence is that eyebags, superfluous chins and bad hair days won’t get a look in! It’s totally up to you how you want to appear. Feel free to add:
a wacky outfit and killer heels
a leonine mane of hair
a floor length beard (complete with nesting birds)
or boost your IQ visually with some very serious looking spectacles
etc
Hang this work of Art in the office Break Room as a happy reminder of the day - and a testament to your creative skills.
Think you “can’t draw” or “can’t paint”?
Then you’re my favourite type of person! You’re absolutely going to be able to do this and I’m going to really enjoy showing you how. Some other Art classes ask you to copy one big showpiece. At my laid-back Art Socials you’ll discover simple ways to make several beautiful creations and then go home with the confidence to make even more.
What to bring and wear
Everything will be provided. Just bring your lovely self, preferably in something you don’t mind getting paint on, just in case.
Photography
Photographs are taken during Art Socials for promotional purposes, including use on the website, social media channels and marketing materials. By attending, you consent to being photographed unless you notify me in advance (or on the day) that you would prefer not to appear in any images. I will always respect and accommodate such requests.
Timings
If the venue is organised by you (i.e. your office space) please allow me access to the workshop space at least 60 minutes before the event and for 30 minutes after it ends so I can set up and ensure the smooth running of the session. If space allows and your venue is local to Maidenhead, setting up the day before is preferred.
I politely ask for access to a sink before the session to fill mixing cups and to wash materials after the session ends.
The workshop will start and end promptly at the times agreed when booking.
Final guest numbers
Must be confirmed no later than 21 days prior to the event, at which point they become the minimum number charged for.
Reductions after this date cannot be accommodated as materials, preparation time and scheduling will already have been committed.
If extra guests need to be added within the final 21 days prior to the event please ask and I will confirm if the new number can be accommmodated. Please note that there will be an admin fee in addition to the per guest fee for guests added within the final 21 days.
Fees
A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking, with the remaining balance due 21 days before the event.
Themes and activities
If final details (such as theme, preferences, or required information) are not received 21 days prior to the event, the workshop will be delivered as a thoughtfully designed, general creative session.
